Air Travel with an Infant

Before baby, every so often when we were tired or frustrated at work, we planned a trip trying to escape the situations. Most likely, the situations were still the same after we came back from a trip, but we somehow changed our perspectives or attitudes. It’s always easier to deal after we came back from our trips.

After I brought my daughter home from the hospital, like all the new Moms, I was hopelessly exhausting with high self doubt without my normal perception of time. My husband suggested that we should take a trip! Oh, yeah! A trip always made me feel recharged. And…. we will have to take my baby along.

Kids under 2 year old are free for most of the airline. We live in north east United State, going to Caribbean make sense. After search around the deal that we can effort, Dominican Republic become apparent for our first adventure with my new born baby girl.

We decided for our first trip with the new baby, it’s enough to stay there for about a week.

So what to bring for the week with a four month old baby? Just think what are you bring every time you take your baby out and multiply …. so she uses about 8-10 diapers a day, drinks milk/ formula about 8 times a day. And the experts and doctors suggests that we should start giving her simple baby food by 4th months. Cleaning and sterilizing supplies for bottles and pacifiers if your baby uses them. Clothing sets fits the local weather, baby swimsuits, rattling toys, portable play mat, and everything you may think you need.

I meant everything! After you get to your hotel room, and set up everything you brought you should feel you transport your nursery with you to your destination. I m not kidding.

I brought 4 different sitting items with us: the fisher price health care booster seat, a vibration bouncer, Bumbo supporting floor seat, and of course the stroller. Don’t think that my husband didn’t challenge my decisions. The answer was that “ how do I know which one she will need? We use all of them everyday!” ( And make sure with a helpless look on your face.)

No worry, most of your luggage should be mostly empty by the end of the trip as most of the diapers ,wipes, formula should be gone.

I should affirm you. It’s all worthwhile. As a traveler become a mom, the traveling and exploring never stop. The parents needs to get use to bring extra luggage and a baby along your adventure. The world is waiting for us!
